Après Koh Lanta puis Phuket (pour prolonger notre visa), nous revoici à Bangkok, une ville que nous aimons particulièrement. Entre le Bangkok des backpackers qui se rendent à Khao San Road, lieu mythique des années seventies et la new city qui englobe Siam, Silom et Sukhumvit, nous avons choisi: la new city offre tout à n’importe quelle heure.
Nous avons trouvé un nouvel endroit oû nous établir: les Citadines. C’est une chaîne de petits hôtels créée par le groupe Ascot qui offre dans les grandes villes de petits studios extrêmement confortables et tout équipés (wifi, cuisine, tv satellite, piscine, fitness, etc), bref, on se sent comme à la maison, car ce ne sont plus ces énormes gratte-ciel qui comportent jusqu’à 70 étages; ici on s’arrête à 8. Juste quelques clichés.

After Koh Lanta and Phuket (to extend our visa), we are yet again in Bangkok, a city that we particularly like. Between Bangkok for backpackers who travel to Khao San Road, the legendary place of the seventies and the new city, which includes Siam, Sukhumvit and Silom, we chose the new city, which offers everything at any time.
We found a new place to stay: the Citadines. It is a chain of small hotels created by the Ascot group which offers in big cities small studios extremely comfortable and fully equipped (wifi, kitchen, satellite TV, swimming pool, fitness, etc.), in short, it feels like home, because it is not like these huge skyscrapers that include up to 70 floors; here we stop at 8. Just a few shots.

De notre plage, par beau temps, nous apercevons Koh Haa. Six petites îles sont à l’origine de cette formation rocheuse qui emprunte le nom de  »Haa » qui signifie  »cinq » en thaï (même s’il y a six îles, ne me demandez pas pourquoi?). Le centre Palm Beach Divers nous a emmené plonger. Les sites de plongée à Koh Haa sont riches en poissons et les fonds sont colonisés de coraux mous aux multiples couleurs. Sur l’un des sites (île n°5), Paa, notre guide, nous conduit à l’entrée d’une cave sous-marine qui se situe à 15 mètres de profondeur. De là, nous pénétrons dans un vaste espace qui ressemble à la voûte d’une cathédrale. Nous remontons pour faire surface sous un haut plafond flanqué de stalactites. Fait incroyable, nous pouvons enlever les détendeurs et respirer à l’air libre. L’obscurité est totale; seul un halo bleu turquoise nous éclaire jusqu’à la taille. Résidu de lumière naturelle qui vient de l’entrée de la cave. Nous sommes restés là, quelques minutes à apprécier cette atmosphère si particulière.

From our beach, if the weather is good, we see Koh Haa. Six small islands are at the origin of this rock formation that gets its name from Haa which means ‘five’ in Thai (even if there are six islands, do not ask me why …). We dived with the center Palm Beach Divers. Dive sites in Koh Haa are rich in fishes and the reef are covered with soft corals of multiple colors. On one site (island No.5), Paa, our guide, leads us to the entrance of a cave under the sea that lies 15 meters deep. From here we enter a large area that resembles the roof of a cathedral. We come to surface under a high ceiling, with the presence of a few stalactites. Incredible, we can remove the regulator and breathe fresh air. The darkness is total, only a blue halo enlightens us up to the waist. Residue of natural light coming from the entrance of the cave. We stayed there a few minutes to enjoy this special atmosphere.

Well, we’ll leave the peaceful island to return to Phuket and meet Kid for a friend’s birthday. We spent a long holiday to dive, read, think, write, eat, dream, in short, well life! We realized some pictures of this beautiful place were missing, so here we fill the gap. Between 7/11 shops, beach bars and Sala Dan (the city), a small incursion into our everyday life.

Férus d’architecture et d’esthétique, nous avons trouvé un endroit exceptionnel sur l’île, un resort nommé Costa Lanta. Nous avons passé près d’une demi-heure à le trouver de nuit pour aller dîner et nous nous étions promis d’y retourner de jour. Pour ceux qui s’imaginent la Thaïlande côté brousse, bungalow en bois et artisanat, il faudra qu’ils revoient leur opinion, car les Thaïlandais sont également très en avance sur tout ce qui est architecture, design et décoration d’intérieur. Ceci n’est qu’un aperçu.

If you are one of those who like architecture and beauty, we found an exceptional place on the island, a resort called Costa Lanta. We spent almost half an hour in the night to find the place for dinner. We promised to return in daylight. For those who think that Thailand sounds like side bush bungalows and wooden handicrafts, they will reconsider their opinion, because the Thais are also well ahead in architecture, design and interior decorating. This is only a preview.

Nous avons quitté Khaolak et sommes depuis quelques jours sur l’île de Koh Lanta. Que du bonheur! Nous sommes dans un petit bungalow près de la plage et prenons quelques vacances en plongeant pour nous TOUT SEULS avec notre appareil photo. Youpi! Sans personnes à materner ou à surveiller, c’est vraiment chouette J Pour ceux qui ont suivi des cours avec nous, ne le prenez pas mal, nous avons beaucoup aimé vous enseigner notre passion J Juste pour le plaisir des yeux, la photo d’une crevette Harlequin avec son BB (5 cm de long à l’âge adulte).

We have left Khaolak and reached Koh Lanta a few days ago. Just awesome! We are staying in a little bungalow near the beach and we are enjoying our holidays, diving by our own with as only buddy, our camera. No students to take care of or fun divers to look after. No offence for those who took some classes with us, we had a really good time teaching you our passion. Just for the eyes, a picture of an Harlequin Shrimp with its baby (5 cm length adult size).

Après des mois de dur labeur, nous nous sommes octroyés un jour de congé et nous nous sommes rendus sur l’île de James Bond comme ils l’appellent ici. La baie de Phang Nga qui ressemble à s’en méprendre à la baie d’Along au Vietnam. Une centaine de petites îles semblant flotter sur le miroir bleu. Des mangroves, comme de longs cheveux, se prolongent de leur socle dans le sable. Magique!

Nous avons terminé notre journée dans le ventre de l’éléphant qui est une montagne qui ressemble à un éléphant et qu’ils appellent la montagne Chang. La montagne abrite une grotte que nous avons visitée. Tout d’abord en canoë, puis sur un radeau de bambous pour terminer, dans l’eau jusqu’aux cuisses, à remonter la rivière avec nos loupiottes sur le front. Des chauve-souris, d’impressionnantes stalagmites et stalactites, des petits poissons qui survivent dans le noir le plus absolu et surtout l’humidité qui vous entoure de plus en plus à chaque pas. Question sécurité, il ne vaut mieux pas y penser, à 300 mètres de l’entrée et les jambes dans l’eau, l’imagination vagabonde.

After six months of hard work, we took a day off and went on the James Bond island as they call it here. Phang Nga bay looks like the Along Bay in Vietnam. A hundred of small islands floating on the blue mirror. Mangroves, as long hair, extend their root in the sand. Magical!

We ended our day in the elephant’s belly which indeed is a mountain that looks like an elephant so called the Chang mountain. This mountain is home to a cave that we visited, first with a canoe, then on a bamboo raft and ending up walking in river with our torches on the head. Bats, impressive stalagmites and stalactites, small fishes that survive in the most absolute black and especially the humidity that surrrounds you more with every step. Security-wise, it is better not thinking about it, at 300 meters from the entrance and legs in water, the imagination wanders.

Comment avez-vous passé le cap de la nouvelle année? Nous, nous étions sur le Manta Queen II pour quatre jours dans les îles Similans. 14 plongées au programme, 2 Open Water et 2 Advanced. Nous n’avons pas pu aller à Richelieu Rock (fameux site de plongée), car la mer était trop agitée, mais le capitaine nous a organisé quelques gigantesques Raies Mantas, sans oublier les requins-léopards et autres magnifiques spécimens subaquatiques. Comme nous donnions des cours, nous ne pouvions pas prendre notre appareil tout le temps, il faut donc nous croire sur parole! Album du Manta Queen II.

How did you passed your New Year’s Eve? We were on the Manta Queen II for 4 days in Similans. 14 dives programed, 2 Open Water and 2 Advanced. We could not reach Richelieu Rock (famous dive site), because the sea was too choppy, but the captain managed to organize some giant manta rays, including leopard sharks and other magnificent underwater specimens. As we were teaching, we couldn’t take always our camera underwater with us. So you have to believe us on word. Manta Queen II album.

Noël est déjà passé, Seb était sur le bateau pour donner des cours d’OpenWater et moi je suis restée à Khaolak pour le shop et pour fêter Noël avec les autres instructeurs qui n’étaient pas en mer. Barbecue devant le diveshop de Wicked Diving, salades, pastèque, mangues, bières, vin chaud qui était froid (température oblige), biscuits au gingembre et cadeaux. Chacun a tiré au sort un nom et devait offrir un cadeau de moins de 500 Bath à la personne en question. Après le barbecue, nous nous sommes tous rendus au Happy Snapper oû il y a avait foule. Christmas has just passed, Seb was on the boat for OpenWater courses and I remained in Khaolak to work in the shop and celebrate Christmas with other instructors who were not at sea. Barbecue in the front of the Diveshop of Wicked Diving, saldes, watermelon, mangoes, beer, « Glühwein » that was cold (temperature requires), ginger biscuits and gifts. Everyone has picked up a name and had to find a gift for this person that is less than 500 Bath. After the barbecue, we all wented to the Happy Snapper which was full; special guests for the Xmas cocert: the Blues Brothers! Pictures

Quelques mots pour la suite des opérations. Le diveshop est partiellement ouvert, même s’il manque encore les prix et que l’enseigne lumineuse n’est pas encore installée. Ici on ouvre un shop comme on va faire les courses, et hop! D’un jour à l’autre, les accessoires sont là, la peinture n’est pas encore fraîche que les clients sont déjà en train de vous harceler de questions. Trèves de bavardages, quelques images du shop!

A few words about the diveshop. It is partially open, even though prices are still missing and the big sign telling everybody we are here is not yet installed. Here you open a shop as you go shopping, and hop! From one day to another, the equipement is here, the painting is still fresh as the customers are already making their way in harassing you with plenty of questions. Well, some pictures of shop!

Évidemment, aucune folie acheteuse, ni de grands sapins de Noël, ni des offres et des cadeaux partout: sous les palmiers avec 35°C à l’ombre, c’est bien sûr difficile. Il a totalement arrêté de pleuvoir (je croise les doigts) et il fait une chaleur étouffante. Sébastien débute un nouveau cours et moi j’ouvre un shop de plongée avec Mr. O. Ça ressemble presque à du James Bond, non? Hi hi. Ce soir c’est la mise en place et demain nous ouvrons. Comme il n’y a pas énormément de taf pour l’instant, je me suis dit que ça pouvait être amusant! Si des cours se présentent, j’irai avec un énorme PLAISIR en mer (ça me manque). M’enfin, suis quand même pas là, pour m’enfermer à l’intérieur. Voilà, un peu plus de détails dans les jours à venir.

Christmas and New Year are almost here and we do not feel anything special. Obviously, no buying madness, or large Christmas trees, or offers and gifts everywhere, under the palm trees with 35°C in the shade. It has completely stopped raining (fingers crossed) and it makes a sweltering heat. Sébastien has begun a new course and I am opening a dive shop with Mr. O. It’s almost like James Bond, right? Hi hi. Tonight we will arrange everything and we open tomorrow. Since there is not a lot work for the moment, I thought it could be fun! If dive courses will come up, I’ll sure go with an enormous PLEASURE at sea (that I miss)! I’m not there to shut myself inside.More details in the coming days. To be followed
