Le magazine Plongeurs International m’a invitée en Mer Rouge, croisière Sud, pour tester le nouveau matériel de plongée 2010. Album Photos

10 testeurs (9 français et moi et moi et moi), 33 valises de plongeurs, 600kg de matériel et quelques heures de vol plus loin, nous voilà embarqués sur le JP Marine à la marina de Safaga – tempête de sable sur Marsa Alam oblige … tant mieux ! Les 6 heures de bus prévus ont été rayé du programme.

Distribution de cabines, rangement du matériel, affichage des plannings plongées-matériel, Briefing bateau de notre guide Philippe et c’est parti. En perspective, 3 plongées par jour avec à chaque fois un matériel différent qui comprend :

- un gilet
- un détendeur
- 2-3 ordinateurs de plongées
- une lampe
- un appareil photo

Le seul matos perso étant la combi, les chaussons et les palmes.

Lors de notre sortie PMT avec les dauphins, nous avons aussi pu essayer les palmes hydrodynamiques à 3 vitesses (les fabricants ont toujours de nouvelles idées), des tubas «secs» et des minis appareils photos étanche à 10mètres (pas pour la plongée) assez bluffants !

Chacun avait un cahier oû nous devions noter scrupuleusement chaque matériel testé selon 4-5 critères ; les commentaires étant les bienvenus. Un boulot hyper intéressant, des surprises au blind test (test avec un masque noir, à l’aveugle pour les 10 détendeurs) et toujours certains objets, «que même si on me les offrait, que je ne les prendrais pas» !

Une semaine de tests, des rencontres géniales et je replonge dans le monde qui était le mien il y a seulement une année de ça. Il paraît qu’on est testeur Plongeurs International seulement une fois dans sa vie, dommage, je recommencerais bien ! p.s. Chaque testeur a apporté une spécialité de sa région, Bretagne, Sud-ouest et la Suisse évidemment. De belles soirées gourmandes étaient au programme, sans oublier la danse sur le pont le dernier soir, mais ces photos-là demeurent dans un cercle restreint

The magazine Plongeurs International invited me for a Southern cruise on the Red Sea, to test the 2010 new dive gear.

10 testers (9 French and myself), 33 divebags, 600kg of gear and a few hours of flight later, here we are embarking on the JP Marine on the Safaga marina… there was a sandstorm on Marsa Alam – so much better! The 6 hours bus forseen have been cancelled !

On board, first things to do is to distribute the cabins, setup the equipment and hang the schedule board on the upper deck.

Philippe, our guide, gave the boat briefing and here it starts. 3 dives a day are planed with each time a different material to test, which includes:

- BCD
- Regulator
- 2-3 dive computers
- Torch
- Camera

The only personal things we own are the wetsuit, boots and fins.

When we went out swimming with the dolphins, we could test the hydrodynamic fins with 3 speeds (the manufacturers have always new ideas), « dry » snorkels and mini waterproof cameras (10meters – not for diving), quite amazing !
Each one of the tester had a book to write down the tested material according to 4-5 criterias; comments could also be made. An interesting job, surprises with the blind test (test with a black mask for the 10 regulators) and sometimes certain gear, « that even if they were offered to me, I would not have taken them »!

One week of tests, fantastic people and I went back to the world which was mine just a year ago. Someone told me that you are only once in your life a tester for Plongeurs International, too bad, I would for sure start again!

P.S. Each tester brought a speciality from its region, Brittany, South-west and Switzerland obviously. Tasteful food, drinks and wine every night, without forgetting the belly-dance on the deck the last evening, but these photographs remain in a restricted circle
